In partnership with Eastern Health, testing for Covid-19 will be taking place at the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre commencing April 27th and will run every second day.  During testing days the parking lot at the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre will be closed to the public.

St. Francis Field Walking Track Notice: 

– Field Hours: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
– All runners / walkers must keep social distancing (2m apart)
– Walk in one direction (counterclockwise)
– No gatherings on field
– No sporting events
– No pets / bicycles permitted on field

Effective March 18, 2020, the Minister of Health and Community Services declared COVID-19 a public health emergency under the Public Health Protection and Promotion Act. The following facilities are ordered to close (updated April 29):

  • Gyms and fitness facilities, including yoga studios, tennis and squash facilities
  • Dance studios
  • Businesses that hold a license under the Liquor Control Act whose primary purpose is the consumption of beer, wine, or spirits
  • Cinemas
  • Arenas
  • Performance spaces
  • Bingo halls
  • Personal services establishments including spas, esthetic services, hair salons, body piercing, tattooing and tanning salons
  • Retail stores, unless those stores provide services essential to life, health or personal safety of individuals and animals. See the Special Measures Order above for details.
  • Private health clinics, except physician and nurse practitioner clinics. If clinicians can provide virtual care, they are encouraged to do so.

Restaurants are permitted to offer take-out, delivery and drive-thru services. In-person dining is prohibited.

Gatherings of 5 people or more are prohibited. As of March 30, funerals and wakes are prohibited; burials and weddings are limited to 5 people. 

Visitation to long-term care and personal care homes is prohibited, unless for exceptional circumstances, including end of life.

Anyone arriving to Newfoundland and Labrador from outside of Canada on or after March 14, 2020 at 7:00pm NDT is REQUIRED to self-isolate for 14 days after their arrival in Canada.

Anyone arriving to the province from outside of Newfoundland and Labrador on or after March 20, 2020 is REQUIRED to self-isolate for 14 days after their arrival.

A person found in breach of these orders could face a fine or jail time. A corporation found in breach of these orders could face a fine of $5,000 to $50,000. Please see the details on the PUBLIC REPORTING PROCESS below.

The Town of Harbour Grace is and has taken necessary measures as it relates to COVID-19 to follow the guidelines and recommendations of the various Public Health Agencies and Federal and Provincial Governments to do its part to protect all citizens and employees while maintaining essential services.

The Town of Harbour Grace has closed all Town owned or operated facilities, i.e. the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre and the HGVFB Social Building.

Any Town functions will be postponed until further notice.

 

If you must go to public spaces for essentials such as groceries, make sure that you are maintaining a 2 arm’s length distance from other people.

– You DO NOT need to be tested for COVID-19 unless you have symptoms

To protect yourself when out in public FOR ESSENTIAL ITEMS, wash your hands frequently and maintain a distance of 2 metres from others

– For anyone having issues or concerns regarding self-isolation, please call the Canadian Red Cross COVID-19 help line at 1-800-863-6582, available 8:00am to 8:00pm daily.

Self-isolation with symptoms means:

  • Staying at home and not going to work or school;
  • Avoiding close contact with people with chronic conditions, compromised immune systems and older adults;
  • Avoiding contact with others in your home;
  • Staying in a separate room away from other people;
  • Using a separate bathroom, if possible;
  • Avoiding sharing dishes, glasses, or utensils;

Self-isolation without symptoms means:

  • Staying at home and not going to work or school;
  • Avoiding close contact with people with chronic conditions, compromised immune systems and older adults;
  • Avoiding contact with others in your home;
  • Staying in a separate room away from other people;
  • Using a separate bathroom, if possible;
  • Keeping a distance of at least two arm’s length from other people;
  • Avoiding sharing dishes, glasses, or utensils;
  • You may go outside only if you stay on your property and can maintain physical (social) distancing;
  • If you remain symptom-free after 14 days, self-isolation ends.
